Winchester Rugby Football Club was founded in October of 2001 and has attracted players from all backgrounds and abilities. We have had players with extensive rugby experience to players with no experience. With the introduction of the Under 19 team (U-19's) and other youth teams, we are reaching even further into the surrounding community.
For a small Virginia city, the Winchester Cannons have
an amazingly international team, with members and
former members from Ireland, Australia, England, Canada, Paraguay, South
Africa, Scotland and even West Virginia!
Our team members range in age from 18 to 55, and include a variety of occupations ranging from Lawyers, Foremen and PhDs to students studying for their Doctorates and
Masters degrees. Rugby isn't an elitist sport. All are welcome!
